<dc:title>Planning Committee: Planning applications index maps: County Series index maps</dc:title>
<dc:description>A collection of maps serving as an index to planning applications submitted to the Isle of Man Government.

Ordnance Survey County Series maps (scale 1:2500, 25 inch to a mile), surveyed in 1869, form the base map, onto which annotations have been made to record planning applications submitted for each property or area of land. Each property subject to a planning application has been outlined in ink and the planning application reference number written on the map. Planning application references annotated on the maps date from 1936 onwards.

The original index plan sheet 13.14 was missing from the sequence at the time of its transfer to the Isle of Man Public Record Office. A digital surrogate is available.

When searching for planning applications, researchers should also consult the maps in S90/2, S90/3 and S90/4.

When using these indexes, the first step is to identify the map sheet where the property is located. This can be done by referring to the overview index map sheet S90/1/1; then viewing the individual maps sheet for the specific area of the Island and finding the property itself on the map. Any application numbers identified on the index maps can then be researched further using the planning registers (S89), the application files (S10) and the planning committee minutes (S92).</dc:description>
