Title
Isle of Man Ballamona Hospital Deceased Patients' Case Files
Date
1967-1992
Description
Collection of confidential patient case notes chronologically organised by date of death. The file contents typically include:
- personal information (address, next of kin, age, etc.);
- consultation results related to admissions and discharges;
- treatment and examination history and results;
- nurses' and social workers' reports;
- correspondence relating to the admission of the patient;
- occasionally, correspondence between the individual and their family.
These records were previously organised by the registration number given to the patient when entering the institution. On the death of the patient, the file was moved to the 'Deceased patients' case notes' sequence.
Notes
Closed until 1 Jan 2093. Each file will have an individual closure period based on the patient's date of admission and content.
In this catalogue you may find terminology or language included in historical record titles and descriptions that are today considered offensive or pejorative. These terms have been retained in the catalogue in order to reflect the historical accuracy of the record. All such terms will appear in inverted commas and they are in no way representative of views or opinions of the Isle of Man Government in the 21st Century. The only exception where inverted commas have not been used is for administrative bodies that carried the expression 'Lunatic' in their title, as this was the formal name of the institution itself. We apologise for any offence that our inclusion of these words may cause.
